Red Bull BC One Worldfinal

Red Bull BC One Worldfinal

In November the biggest breakdance battle, the Red Bull BC One World Final, finally took place in Salzburg. The international breakdance event, which takes place every year since 2004, is the biggest and most prestigious 1-on-1 breakdance competition in the world.

The Chaka2 team was part of this event and we took care of the topics concerning entry requirements, booking, hospitality as well as branding. Furthermore we were responsible to create and implement the Covid-19 prevention concept for the Red Bull BC One. A very challenging task because the entry and exit regulations as well as the event regulations given by the Austrian government have changed almost daily.

In order to organize a successful event in times of Covid-19 all persons actively involved in the event (e.g.: participants, judges, managers & crew members of the production) were divided into six COVID-19 “bubbles” according to priority. In the “bubbles”, briefings for all participants according to the Covid-19 prevention concept were conducted by our Chaka2 Corona Officer.
For example to the “bubble double red” belonged the group of people who were considered indispensable for the event and essential for the successful implementation of the event. From the beginning of the event on november 9th till november 29th  we had to make sure that they were completely isolated at the hotel Castellani. That also included that all the talents, as they arrived, were picked up by shuttledrivers, who were also isolated before at the hotel, and afterwards brought back directly to the airport.  All athletes were required to take a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival, the day before the event, and before departure if needed!
As certified corona officers, part of our team was on site from the check-in of the first athletes in the Double Red Bubble as well. The most important task was to maintain and control the hygiene and safety measures. We made sure everybody was wearing a mouth-nose protection, that the minimum distance of 1.5 meters was kept and that all public areas were always disinfected and cleaned.
The current lockdown in Austria at that time made it difficult for the athletes to enter and leave the country, but it helped us to clarify the need for the security measures to them.
The training sessions were held by the athletes alone to guarantee the minimum distance. After each session, the rooms were aired and disinfected. In addition, the athletes could book physiotherapy sessions as well as running slots with us without leaving the hotel.  On this way we provided an optimal preparation according to the competition for all athletes.

After 3 months of intensive planning, athletes and staff from 20 different nations were flown in, countless PCR tests were carried out and all preventive measures were strictly adhered so that the Red Bull BC One Worldfinal could be held in Salzburg. We are proud and very grateful that we were part of this great event!
